Rescue Engineers acquires Victory Powder Coating to expand water infrastructure services
What's the deal? Rescue Engineers, a California-based provider of water treatment technologies, has acquired Victory Powder Coatings LLC, a specialist in liquid and powder linings and coatings for the municipal water, wastewater, and industrial markets.
The deal brings Victory's coating capabilities in-house under Rescue Engineers' Waterworks division, which fabricates custom welded steel pipe, ductile iron pipe, and related accessories for potable water applications. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Why now? The acquisition is a vertical integration play. By internalising coating and lining work it previously outsourced, Rescue Engineers aims to deliver finished products faster and at lower cost — a pressing need as municipal water infrastructure projects face tighter budgets and timelines.
"Internalizing these capabilities will improve client responsiveness and reliability while maintaining product quality and project budgets," said Holly Gerdes, senior director at Rescue Engineers.
What could go wrong? Integrating a manufacturing operation into an existing division always carries execution risk. Maintaining Victory's product quality — its coatings are AWWA and NSF 61 certified for potable water — while folding it into a new corporate structure will be critical. Any disruption could affect relationships with the municipal clients both companies serve.
The signal: This deal reflects a broader trend in water infrastructure: smaller, specialised firms are consolidating to offer end-to-end services. As US utilities face ageing pipes and tightening regulations around contaminants like hexavalent chromium and arsenic, companies that can handle design, engineering, fabrication, corrosion control, and coatings under one roof hold a competitive edge.
Rescue Engineers, founded in 1978 and certified as a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise, has more than 40 years of experience in potable water solutions. The combined Waterworks division will now offer a full suite of services from design through finished product.
