LED & Power acquired by private investor to fuel next growth phase
What's the deal? North Yorkshire-based commercial lighting firm LED & Power has been acquired by private investor Emre Yilmaz in a deal for an undisclosed sum. The company, based on Mandale Business Park in Stokesley, provides commercial, sports, retail, industrial, and emergency lighting.
Co-founders Ian Austick and Sam Garbutt said the deal will "protect the values of the company and support its next phase of growth." The firm will continue operating under its existing brand.
Why now? Yilmaz has form in acquiring established businesses in the north of England — he previously bought Darlington-headquartered Harvey Electrical Services. His stated strategy is to grow companies with their existing teams and build on strong foundations rather than overhaul them.
"Good businesses with strong fundamentals, loyal teams and a solid reputation will always attract interest," Yilmaz said.
The signal: The acquisition fits a broader pattern of private investors snapping up profitable, niche businesses in sectors like commercial lighting and electrical services. These are unsexy but essential industries with steady demand — exactly the kind of companies that attract buy-and-build investors looking to consolidate fragmented markets.
