AdvaHealth acquires FlexView, launches AdvaView radiology viewer
What's the deal? AdvaHealth, a Minneapolis-based medical imaging cloud company, has acquired FlexViewDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a zero-footprint DICOM viewer designed for cloud imaging environments. The product is being rebranded as AdvaView and integrated into AdvaPACS, AdvaHealth's cloud-native imaging platform.
Alongside the acquisition, AdvaHealth appointed Rob Lewis — founder and chief executive officer of Radical Imaging and co-founder of the open-source OHIF imaging platform — to its board of directors.
Why now? The healthcare imaging market is shifting rapidly toward cloud-native, AI-ready infrastructure. AdvaView's open, modular, web-native architecture lets providers add or swap AI algorithms and tools without being locked into a single vendor's ecosystem — a growing priority as hospitals adopt more AI-driven diagnostic workflows.
"This acquisition allows us to bridge the gap between complex data sets and actionable clinical decisions," said Imad B. Nijim, AdvaHealth's chief executive officer.
What could go wrong? AdvaHealth says it will continue supporting its existing network of viewer partners, but folding a competing viewer into the core platform could create tension with those partners over time. Integration complexity is another risk — merging two products while maintaining interoperability with external systems is no small feat.
The signal: With both AdvaHealth and FlexView classified as early-growth-stage companies on Dealroom, this is a case of two small players merging capabilities rather than a large platform absorbing a startup — a pattern that suggests the cloud-imaging market is still fragmented enough for consolidation among emerging vendors. The appointment of Rob Lewis, whose Radical Imaging is also at the early-growth stage, points to AdvaHealth betting heavily on the open-source OHIF ecosystem as the foundation for its next phase of expansion.
