Complii acquires Celtic Fire Security to expand UK building compliance reach
What's the deal? Complii, a London-headquartered building safety and regulatory compliance firm, has acquired Celtic Fire Security, a Wirral-based company specialising in fire alarm installation, maintenance, fire risk assessments, emergency light testing, and fire awareness training.
Celtic Fire Security will continue operating under its own brand and existing leadership. Complii says the deal "further cements its position as the UK's most comprehensive building compliance partner."
Why now? The acquisition comes just days after Complii bought Classic Lifts (Scotland), signalling an aggressive roll-up strategy. The company is clearly on an acquisition spree to broaden both its service offering and geographic footprint across the UK.
"This acquisition deepens our fire safety offering and extends our reach into new geographies," said Sarah Dixon, Complii group chief executive.
What could go wrong? Rapid-fire acquisitions carry integration risk. Keeping acquired teams motivated while stitching together different company cultures and systems is never straightforward — especially when the acquired brands retain operational independence.
Graham Stott, Celtic Fire Security managing director, struck an optimistic tone: "Our team will continue to do what they do best; the difference is that we now have the resources and network of a leading national compliance group behind us."
The signal: The UK building compliance sector is consolidating. Tightening regulations since the Grenfell Tower tragedy have created steady demand for fire safety and building compliance services, making the space attractive for platform plays. Complii's buy-and-build approach reflects a broader trend of compliance firms scaling through acquisition to offer end-to-end services — from lifts to fire safety — under one roof.
