The Pete Store acquires G.L. Sayre, expands Peterbilt network to 33 locations
What's the deal? The Pete Store, one of North America's largest privately owned Peterbilt dealer groups, has acquired G.L. Sayre, a 92-year-old family-owned Peterbilt dealership with locations in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, and New Castle, Delaware. The two sites have reopened as The Peterbilt Store, Philadelphia, and The Peterbilt Store, Wilmington.
The deal brings The Pete Store's network to 33 locations across the eastern US. Both facilities will retain their existing teams.
The Conshohocken location will continue offering new and used truck sales, parts, and service. The New Castle site will keep its parts and service operations, with truck sales planned for the near future.
Why now? The Philadelphia market sits within a one-day drive of roughly 40% of the US population and is served by major freight corridors including I-95, I-76, and I-476. For a dealership group looking to deepen its Mid-Atlantic presence, the geography is hard to beat.
G.L. Sayre, founded in 1934, had served the region for over nine decades — making it a natural acquisition target for a buyer seeking established customer relationships and operational infrastructure.
What could go wrong? Integrating a nearly century-old family business into a larger corporate network always carries risk. Retaining staff and preserving customer loyalty through the transition will be critical, especially in a service-heavy industry where relationships matter.
The signal: Consolidation in the commercial truck dealership space continues as larger groups snap up regional players. The Pete Store — a four-time Peterbilt North American Dealer of the Year — is clearly betting that scale and geographic density along the East Coast will drive competitive advantage in parts, service, and sales.
"G.L. Sayre has built something special over nearly a century of serving this region," said Jeff Arscott, president of The Pete Store. "Our job is to honour what the Sayre family created and continue investing in the service, parts, and support that customers in this market depend on every day."
