Armko expands Texas footprint with Kuhn & Associates acquisition

What's the deal? Armko, a portfolio company of private equity firm Align Capital Partners (ACP), has acquired Kuhn & Associates, a Houston-based building envelope consulting firm. Kuhn serves education, municipal, and multi-family clients across Southeast Texas.

The deal expands Armko's team, strengthens its Texas presence, and adds complementary testing capabilities. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Why now? This is Armko's first acquisition since it partnered with ACP in December 2025. The deal signals that the company is moving quickly on a buy-and-build strategy, targeting firms with strong regional reputations and complementary services.

"Kuhn has a strong reputation in the Houston and Austin markets by putting clients first and delivering dependable services," said Josh Brown, Armko's chief executive officer. "Their team, values and regional expertise align perfectly with our long-term growth vision."

Bob Kuhn, president of Kuhn & Associates, said joining Armko gives his team "greater scale and access to resources" while maintaining its service standards.

What could go wrong? Integration is the perennial risk in roll-up strategies. Kuhn's appeal rests on its client-focused, relationship-driven model — the kind of culture that can erode when a larger parent imposes new processes. Retaining key staff and clients through the transition will be critical.

The signal: The deal fits a familiar private equity playbook: back a platform company, then bolt on regional specialists to build scale. Building envelope consulting — which covers waterproofing, façade inspection, and related services — is fragmented and ripe for consolidation. As ageing infrastructure and stricter building codes drive demand, expect more acquisitions in this niche.
