Cardo Group acquires electrical and solar specialist EFS Systems
What's the deal? Cardo Group, a building maintenance and improvement services provider for social housing and the public sector, has completed its acquisition of EFS Systems (UK) Ltd, a specialist electrical and solar installation and maintenance business based in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.
EFS Systems, founded in 2003, delivers electrical and engineering solutions spanning feasibility, design, installation, and project completion across commercial, industrial, and renewable sectors. It will continue to operate under its existing leadership team.
Why now? Cardo says the deal strengthens its self-delivery capability and expands its presence across Wales and the wider UK. The two organisations have a long working relationship — Cardo chief executive officer Liam Bevan said EFS Systems has been a trusted partner for over a decade.
"This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver integrated services for our clients, while continuing to grow our presence in key regions," Bevan said.
The signal: The deal reflects ongoing consolidation in UK building services, as larger providers snap up specialist firms — particularly those with renewable energy expertise — to offer integrated solutions to public-sector clients. With social housing decarbonisation targets tightening, acquiring solar and electrical capabilities in-house positions Cardo to capture more of that growing workload.
