Addus HomeCare expands into Indiana with $20M in combined acquisitions
What's the deal? Addus HomeCare Corporation (Nasdaq: ADUS), a Frisco, Texas-based home care provider, has acquired Indiana-based HomeCourt Home CareDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and signed a definitive agreement to buy a second, similarly sized personal care provider in the state. The HomeCourt deal closed on May 1.
HomeCourt serves roughly 240 clients and generates about $9.8M in annual revenue. Addus expects the two Indiana acquisitions to produce just under $20M in combined annual revenue.
Addus currently serves approximately 62,750 patients and consumers through 263 locations across 24 states. It offers personal care, hospice, and home health services.
Why now? CEO R. Dirk Allison said leadership has eyed Indiana for three years, drawn by rate increases and the state's efforts to eliminate client waitlists. "These two acquisitions continue our strategy of entering new markets with scale and where we have the ability to expand our services," Allison said on the company's Q1 earnings call.
Separately, Illinois raised Addus' personal care rates effective January 1, a change Allison expects to add roughly $17.5M to annualised revenues.
What could go wrong? Regulatory uncertainty looms. Allison said the company predicts the so-called 80/20 rule — which requires that 80% of Medicaid dollars on some home-based care services go to worker compensation — will be eliminated in 2026. But implementation would take years, and the rule does not currently affect Addus' performance.
The signal: Addus HomeCare is a mature, publicly traded platform steadily rolling up early-growth personal care providers like HomeCourt to build state-level density — a playbook that gains urgency as Medicaid programmes shift more services into the home. With leadership openly eyeing two or three Gentiva-scale deals, the Indiana entry looks less like an isolated move and more like the opening phase of an accelerated consolidation push across underserved state markets.
