Hungary's DreamJobs job portal gets new owner as Mobility Group buys out all shareholders

What's the deal? Mobility Group, a company controlled by Transylvanian entrepreneurs Róbert Grüman and Csongor Oltean, has acquired full ownership of DreamJobs, a Hungarian job portal that has been operating for 10 years. The deal saw Mobility Group buy out both the majority owner, Quantum Digital Solutions Hungary, and all minority shareholders — including STRT Holding, the investment vehicle of well-known Hungarian stock market investor Petya Balogh. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Why now? Mobility Group previously held the Romanian franchise rights for DreamJobs, and the experience convinced the buyers that the platform had untapped potential. The new owner plans to transform DreamJobs from a standalone job board into a scalable HR-tech ecosystem — combining recruitment, technology, education, and employer branding in one platform. AI-powered HR-tech features and regional expansion are central to the strategy.

Róbert Grüman, co-owner and chief executive officer of Mobility Group, said the acquisition is not a simple buyout but a platform-building move. The company is taking a long-term "buy-and-hold" approach rather than looking for a quick flip.

What could go wrong? The HR-tech and job portal market in Central and Eastern Europe is competitive, with established players and global platforms already entrenched. Integrating AI features and expanding regionally will require significant investment — all without a guaranteed payoff, especially if labour market conditions soften.

The signal: The deal reflects growing investor appetite for HR-tech platforms in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly those that can layer AI capabilities onto traditional recruitment infrastructure. It also signals that regional entrepreneurs are increasingly looking to consolidate fragmented national job markets into cross-border ecosystems — a bet that local knowledge combined with scalable technology can compete with global incumbents.
