Swedish workwear giant Blåkläder acquires US-based Diamondback Toolbelts

What's the deal? Blåkläder Workwear, one of Europe's largest premium workwear producers, has acquired US-based Diamondback Toolbelts. OnMark Capital, an outsourced corporate development partner, served as exclusive financial adviser to Blåkläder on the deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1959 and headquartered in Svenljunga, Sweden, Blåkläder is a family-owned business that develops, produces, and distributes workwear, gloves, and footwear across more than 20 countries. It produces over five million garments annually through ISO- and LEED-certified manufacturing facilities.

Diamondback makes utility belt systems and accessories used by professional tradespeople globally.

Why now? The deal pairs Blåkläder's technical garment engineering with Diamondback's ergonomically designed tool systems — giving the Swedish company a foothold in North America and a more complete product offering for skilled trades professionals.

"By combining our technical garment engineering with Diamondback's ergonomically designed tool systems, we'll deliver a more complete solution that enhances safety, comfort, and productivity on the job," said Amanda Dusing, chairman of Blåkläder.

What could go wrong? Integrating a US accessories brand into a European workwear operation spanning 20-plus countries is no small task. Cultural and operational differences between the two companies could slow the expected synergies. And expanding distribution across North America while maintaining Diamondback's premium brand positioning will require careful execution.

The signal: Blåkläder's move into the US toolbelt market underscores a growing appetite among established European family-owned manufacturers to assemble full-ecosystem product offerings for skilled trades — a sector buoyed by sustained construction and infrastructure spending on both sides of the Atlantic. Rather than building from scratch in North America, bolt-on acquisitions of niche, premium brands offer a faster route to credibility with professional tradespeople who are notoriously brand-loyal.
