Ingenix.ai raises €13M in a seed-extension round
What's the deal? Ingenix, a Warsaw-based startup applying AI to drug development, has raised €13M in a seed-extension round led by Sofinnova Partners, with Inovo VCDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and OTB VCDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → also participating. Founded in 2023, the company is building what it calls a Biological Reasoning Engine — a system that stitches together specialised AI models across different biological scales rather than relying on a single large model trained on massive datasets.
The funds will go toward refining the engine and expanding partnerships with pharma and biotech firms through a newly launched Qualified Access Program.
Why now? Ingenix recently tested its engine with an oncology-focused biotech firm tasked with prioritising combinations for a dual-payload antibody-drug conjugate (ADC). The engine produced 15 candidates in minutes — a process that typically takes years and millions of euros through conventional methods.
Of those 15 candidates, five matched established hypotheses in published literature, three had been internally validated by the biotech partner but never published, and five were entirely novel. That kind of result makes a compelling case for raising capital now.
What could go wrong? AI-driven drug discovery is a crowded and hype-prone field. Generating promising hypotheses quickly is impressive, but the real test is whether those candidates survive the long, expensive journey through clinical trials. Speed in the lab doesn't always translate to success in the clinic.
Ingenix is also still early-stage — founded just two years ago — and will need to prove its engine delivers repeatable value across multiple therapeutic areas and partners.
The signal: Sofinnova Partners' lead on this round underscores growing appetite among Europe's established life-sciences investors for AI-native drug discovery platforms emerging outside traditional biotech hubs. For Poland's startup ecosystem, the deal also highlights Inovo VCDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s continued push into deep-tech territory, backing a company that is still at early growth stage yet already demonstrating pharma-grade validation of its technology.
