The funding will accelerate CrediNord's rollout of embedded Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) financing for small and medium-sized businesses across Europe. "We are moving from a successful Dutch operation to building a pan-European embedded finance platform for SMEs," said Jan Forsbom, CrediNord's chief executive officer.
Why now? CrediNord has spent the past four years building a performing loan book and a proven origination platform in the Netherlands. The company says it now has the track record to attract institutional capital and expand geographically.
For Thiele Capital Management, a Minneapolis-based alternative asset manager specialising in private credit, the deal marks its entry into European embedded finance. "CrediNord has the technology, the team, and the partner network to lead it," said Alex Thiele, the firm's chief executive officer.
myPOS, the payment network at the centre of the distribution model, also sees upside. "Strengthening embedded finance across our European network is a clear priority," said Simran Sarkaria, myPOS vice president of product.
What could go wrong? Expanding MCA lending across multiple European jurisdictions means navigating a patchwork of regulatory regimes, credit cultures, and SME risk profiles. What works in the Netherlands may not translate smoothly elsewhere.
CrediNord also faces competition from larger embedded finance players and banks that are increasingly targeting the same underserved SME segment. Its reliance on a single distribution partner — myPOS — concentrates risk, though the company says it is in discussions with additional capital partners and investors.
The signal: CrediNord remains at the early growth stage, according to Dealroom, making this €10 million-plus commitment from a US investment fund a significant validation of its AI- and big data-driven underwriting model. The deal underscores a broader pattern of American private credit managers hunting for yield in niche European fintech infrastructure — particularly where embedded distribution channels, like myPOS's 350,000-merchant network, offer a built-in path to scale without the customer-acquisition costs that have sunk other SME lenders.
