DiagnoVET raises $300K pre-seed from 500 Global to automate veterinary clinical reports
What's the deal? DiagnoVETDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Silicon Valley-based startup operating across Latin America, has raised $300,000 in a pre-seed round led by 500 Global. The company uses AI to automate clinical report writing in veterinary clinics — a process that can take longer than the medical procedure itself.
A typical veterinary ultrasound takes about 20 minutes, but documenting it can add 45 minutes of paperwork. DiagnoVET's platform generates a draft report in roughly 30 seconds, cutting total documentation time to about five minutes. The vet still validates every report.
The startup was founded by Soledad Alborno, a former AI project lead at Google DeepMind; Fernanda Barbero, who leads product and technology; and Nicolás Alborno, a veterinary radiologist. It was selected from around 1,300 applicants to 500 Global's programme, where fewer than 10 companies were chosen.
Why now? The US pet industry hit $158B in 2025, with veterinary care alone accounting for $41B, according to the American Pet Products AssociationDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (APPA). As the sector professionalises, demand for operational efficiency is growing fast.
DiagnoVET's models were trained on more than 20,000 reports and 100,000 veterinary images, achieving roughly 93% accuracy across X-rays, ultrasounds, and echocardiograms. The company already serves clients in Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, and Mexico, and is part of Plug and Play's Animal Health Cohort 10.
What could go wrong? The startup is still in its earliest stage. Pre-seed capital is meant to validate product-market fit, not to scale — and veterinary AI is a niche that requires deep domain expertise and trust from practitioners. Expanding across fragmented Latin American markets, each with different regulatory environments, adds complexity.
"For us it hasn't been just capital. We found a team that gets involved day to day, connects us with other startups, shares experience, and helps us think about how to build a bigger company," Alborno said of the 500 Global partnership.
The signal: 500 Global's bet here aligns with its broad emerging-market playbook, but the cheque size and stage underscore how nascent veterinary AI workflow tools still are. DiagnoVET's parallel inclusion in Plug and Play's Animal Health Cohort 10 suggests that multiple accelerator networks see administrative automation — not diagnostics — as the nearer-term wedge into US$26.5B US vet-care market that is professionalising fast.
