Converge Bio's AI-powered "virtual cell" approach treats the genome as an interconnected system rather than a collection of parts. Much like a large language model processing an entire document, it analyses millions of base pairs simultaneously to rank which genes or mutations most likely drive a specific outcome — and shows which parts of the DNA informed those predictions.

What could go wrong? Translating a platform built for pharma into agricultural genomics is not straightforward. Crop genomes are often far larger and more repetitive than human genomes, and lab-identified targets still need real-world validation through breeding trials.
