Desert Minerals raises US$647.1K in placement at premium to market

What's the deal? Desert MineralsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (ASX: DSM), an exploration company focused on gold and lithium assets in Australia and North America, has raised US$647.1K through a share placement to strategic investors at US$0.23 per share — a 2.9% premium to its last traded price of US$0.22.

The company issued 2,857,143 new shares and notably completed the placement without paying any broker or lead manager fees, meaning the full amount raised goes directly to work.

Why now? DSM is entering a busy stretch. Assay results from its Scotty Lithium Project in Nevada are expected later in Q2 2026, and drilling at its Mt Monger gold project in Western Australia is set to begin in Q3 2026.

The funds will go towards advancing exploration at both projects, evaluating new acquisition opportunities, and general working capital.

"DSM is entering an exciting period of news flow and exploration activity," said executive chairman Peretz Schapiro. "We also remain committed to identifying and assessing new value-accretive opportunities that can further strengthen the Company's asset base."

What could go wrong? DSM is still a pre-revenue explorer, and there's no guarantee that upcoming assays or drilling will yield commercially viable results. The company also plans to issue 1,250,000 unlisted options to placement facilitators — subject to shareholder approval — which could dilute existing holders if exercised.

Small-cap resource companies remain highly sensitive to commodity price swings and broader market sentiment, both of which sit outside management's control.

The signal: DSM's ability to place shares at a premium without broker fees is a notable feat for a micro-cap explorer still in the early growth stage, pointing to genuine strategic demand rather than opportunistic capital. With dual exposure to lithium in Nevada and gold in Western Australia, the company is positioned across two commodities where tier-one jurisdiction assets continue to attract investor interest despite volatile spot prices.
