Unison to issue ₩32B convertible bonds for facilities, operations & strategic investments

What's the deal? Unison, a South Korean wind power company listed on the KOSDAQ (018000), announced on May 29 that it will issue convertible bonds worth ₩32 billion (roughly $23M). The funds will be split three ways: ₩8 billion for facilities, ₩10.1 billion for operating capital, and ₩13.9 billion to acquire securities in other companies.

The signal: The largest single allocation — ₩13.9 billion for acquiring stakes in other firms — suggests Unison is looking to expand through investment or partnerships, not just shore up its balance sheet. For a company in the renewable energy space, convertible bonds offer a way to raise capital without immediately diluting shareholders, while giving investors an equity upside if the stock performs.
