Fexco invests in KSN Project Management to expand into construction consultancy

What's the deal? FexcoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the Killorglin-based financial services group, has announced a strategic investment in KSN Project Management (KSNPM), a construction consultancy operating in Ireland and the UK. The deal brings KSNPM into Fexco's business services division, expanding the group's footprint in property, the built environment, and sustainability.

KSNPM's management team will continue to lead the company under managing director Mark O'Neill. The transaction is subject to approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). No financial terms were disclosed.

KSNPM offers multi-disciplinary construction consultancy services for public and private infrastructure projects. It has supported the delivery of 20,000 residential units, over 200 capital estates programmes for educational institutions, and 12 major infrastructure packages within Strategic Development Zones.

Why now? Ireland faces a well-documented infrastructure and housing bottleneck. KSNPM has a track record of delivering projects tied to the National Development Plan, and Fexco appears to be positioning itself to capture demand as government spending on critical infrastructure ramps up.

"Our investment brings KSNPM into Fexco Business Services, strengthening our shared go-to-market strategy and enhancing our ability to support customers in the delivery of critical infrastructure across Ireland and the UK," said Neil Hosty, chief executive officer of Fexco.

What could go wrong? Integrating a construction consultancy into a financial services group carries execution risk. Cultural alignment is easy to promise and hard to deliver — though both companies emphasise their shared identity as privately owned, people-focused businesses. Regulatory approval from the CCPC also remains outstanding.

The signal: Fexco's move into construction consultancy marks a deliberate diversification play by the corporate investor, which has historically focused on financial services such as payments and foreign exchange. With Ireland's National Development Plan committing tens of billions to housing and infrastructure, the acquisition of a firm that has delivered 20,000 residential units and managed 12 major infrastructure packages within Strategic Development Zones positions Fexco to capture a pipeline of government-backed demand that shows no sign of slowing.
