Jushen Tech raises ~CNY 30M angel round for embodied intelligence services layer
What's the deal? Jushen Tech, a Chinese intelligent robotics startup, has closed an angel round worth tens of millions of yuan. The company positions itself in a structural gap within the embodied intelligence industry chain — the service and operations layer — building what it describes as a "New Oriental + 58.com for robots." In practice, that means standardised skill training for robots and a supply-demand matching network for robotic labour.
The round was co-led by Sequoia China Seed Fund, with participation from Xuhui Science and Innovation Investment, Junshi Ventures, Chuangyuan Culture, and Shenzhen Yaoying, among others.
Why now? Embodied intelligence — robots that can perceive and interact with the physical world — is one of the hottest themes in Chinese tech investment. While much capital has flowed into hardware and foundational AI models, the middleware layer that trains, deploys, and manages robotic workforces remains underdeveloped. Jushen Tech is betting it can fill that gap before the market matures.
What could go wrong? The concept of a robot skills marketplace and labour-matching platform assumes a future in which general-purpose robots are widely deployed — a reality that remains years away for most industries. If hardware adoption stalls or interoperability standards fragment, Jushen's platform play could struggle to reach scale.
Global expansion also introduces regulatory complexity. The company plans to use the fresh capital partly for international RaaS (Robot-as-a-Service) compliance and localisation, a notoriously difficult undertaking across different legal regimes.
The signal: The involvement of Sequoia China's seed fund alongside municipal science and innovation vehicles like Xuhui Science and Innovation Investment underscores how both top-tier VCs and government-backed capital are converging on the embodied intelligence services layer, not just the hardware itself. With funds earmarked for global RaaS compliance and a consumer-facing robot skills content ecosystem, Jushen Tech is positioning early for an infrastructure role that could prove decisive if China's humanoid robot deployment targets materialise at scale.
