Founded 15 years ago, Datascope builds software that helps construction firms run projects faster and more safely. Its platform integrates activity planning, logistics, health and safety risk management, and workforce management into a single system.
The company serves clients across 26 countries and plans to use the funding to expand both domestically and internationally. It expects to create 17 new department head roles as it scales operations.
Why now? Datascope is backed by BGF, the UK growth capital investor, and appears to be entering a phase of aggressive expansion. The NatWest deal gives it the banking infrastructure and foreign exchange capacity to push harder into international markets.
"Securing this funding from NatWest is a significant milestone for Datascope," said Peter Hosker, chief financial officer. "It enables us to accelerate our strategic growth plans, strengthen our team, and continue to deliver industry-leading solutions."
What could go wrong? Construction-tech remains a fragmented and slow-to-adopt market. Scaling across 26 countries means navigating different regulations, building standards, and procurement cultures — none of which come cheap.
The 17 senior hires also represent a significant overhead increase for a regional firm, and execution risk grows with every new market.
The signal: Dealroom classifies Datascope as a "breakout" stage company, suggesting it has moved beyond early traction into a growth phase — notable for a 15-year-old firm operating in one of the slowest sectors to digitise. BGF's presence on the cap table alongside a full NatWest banking relationship points to a coordinated push to scale a regional construction-tech player internationally, at a time when the sector's digitisation gap remains vast.
