SBI Growth Advisory secures strategic investment from Bow River Capital

What's the deal? SBI Growth Advisory, a Dallas-based go-to-market consulting firm serving B2B companies, has secured a strategic investment from Bow River Capital, a Denver-based private alternative asset manager focused on the lower middle market. The deal will fund SBI's expansion in talent, technology, and its proprietary growth intelligence platform, SBI Wayforge.

SBI helps B2B companies grow by combining proprietary benchmark data built over 20 years, hands-on advisory, and its Wayforge platform. It claims more than $5B in revenue impact across 500+ clients.

The firm's leadership — founder and executive chairman Matt Sharrers and senior partner Scott Gruher — will continue to lead operations and M&A execution.

Why now? SBI has been on an acquisition tear, snapping up Sales Readiness Group, CarabinerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Daydream, and Brevet in recent years to deepen its capabilities across strategy design, implementation, and execution. The Bow River investment signals a shift from bolt-on acquisitions to a broader scaling phase.

"CEOs and revenue leaders can no longer afford the gap between their topline strategy and the results they see in the field," Sharrers said.

Bow River's Greg Hiatrides, managing director, framed the deal through a private equity lens: "Our investment in SBI speaks to our own conviction that private equity firms, portfolio companies, and corporates value consistent and actionable revenue measurement standards."

What could go wrong? Integrating multiple recent acquisitions while simultaneously scaling a tech platform is a tall order. SBI also operates in a crowded advisory market where differentiation hinges on proving measurable ROI — a claim many competitors make. And without a disclosed deal size, it's hard to gauge how much runway this investment actually provides.

The signal: SBI's late growth stage, per Dealroom, combined with its rapid acquisition streak and a PE backer that itself relies on GTM advisory to evaluate portfolio companies, highlights a maturing niche: data-driven commercial consulting is becoming essential infrastructure for the private equity playbook. Bow River's bet suggests that firms offering proprietary revenue benchmarks — not just advice — are emerging as scalable platform businesses in their own right.
