Lucis raises $20M Series A to expand AI-driven preventive healthcare platform
What's the deal? Lucis, a preventive health platform that combines blood biomarker testing with AI-powered insights, has raised a $20M Series A led by Singular, with participation from General Catalyst, Y Combinator, and several angel investors. The round comes just four months after an $8M seed, bringing total funding to $28M.
Founded in 2025 by Maxime BerthelotDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Baptiste DebeverDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Lucis analyses over 110 blood biomarkers — spanning metabolic health, hormones, cardiovascular risk, inflammation, and nutrient levels — and delivers physician-reviewed, personalised guidance through an AI companion app.
The company has grown to more than 10,000 users across France, the UK, Ireland, and Portugal, and has delivered over one million biomarker tests.
Why now? Lucis is riding a wave of consumer interest in proactive health monitoring. At initial testing, 99.9% of users had at least one biomarker outside optimal ranges — often without prior awareness. Among those who completed a six-month follow-up, 75% improved at least three biomarkers without medication, and more than 80% opted to retest.
"We've seen the devastating impact of late-stage diagnosis first-hand," said Berthelot. "Europe deserves a healthcare model that doesn't wait for people to get sick."
What could go wrong? Preventive health platforms face a familiar set of hurdles: regulatory complexity across European markets, the challenge of maintaining clinical credibility at scale, and the risk that consumer enthusiasm fades after the novelty wears off. Lucis currently operates with a team of 20 and a network of over 10 physicians — scaling clinical oversight across new markets like Spain, Germany, and Italy by end of 2026 will be a real test.
There's also the question of differentiation. Consumer health testing is a crowded space, and Lucis will need to prove its AI-driven personalisation delivers meaningfully better outcomes than competitors.
The signal: Formerly known as Zero Health, Lucis's rebrand and rapid trajectory from seed to Series A in just four months underscores how quickly investor appetite is building around AI-driven preventive care in Europe. The backing of General Catalyst and Y Combinator — two of the most prolific global funds — alongside category-focused lead Singular suggests confidence that the model can scale beyond its current early-growth phase into a pan-European standard.
