BetterX says it is already profitable in Australia and will use the fresh capital to expand into Asia, the Middle East, and the US.

"With the increasing institutional adoption of digital assets, we are committed to providing wealth managers with seamless, compliant, and institutional-grade solutions to bridge traditional finance with the digital asset ecosystem," said co-founder and chief executive officer Adam Switzer.

Why now? Institutional appetite for digital assets is growing as regulatory frameworks mature across key markets. Demand for tokenising real-world assets — from property to bonds — is accelerating, and wealth managers need compliant infrastructure to offer these products to clients.

What could go wrong? The digital asset space remains volatile and regulatory landscapes differ sharply across the regions BetterX is targeting. Expanding simultaneously into Asia, the Middle East, and the US on $1.72M is ambitious — each market carries its own compliance burden and competitive dynamics.

Trust is another hurdle. High-profile failures in the crypto sector have made financial advisers and their clients cautious about new platforms, no matter how robust the security claims.

The signal: BetterX's pre-Series A arrives as the company transitions from what Dealroom classifies as an "early growth" stage, having already reached profitability in Australia — a rare milestone for a digital-asset infrastructure startup raising less than $2M. The diverse investor base, spanning corporate backers like Aura Group, angel investors such as Kinsey Cotton, and investment funds like Scalare Partners, suggests confidence in the B2B compliance-infrastructure layer rather than in speculative crypto plays. As wealth managers globally face mounting client demand for tokenised real-world assets, the picks-and-shovels providers that can demonstrate sustainable unit economics may find themselves better positioned than the exchanges and protocols grabbing bigger headlines.
