Analog Devices bets $1.5B on Empower Semiconductor to tackle AI’s power bottleneck

The company reports second-quarter earnings on May 20, with analysts expecting record revenue of roughly $3.5B. Empower closed a $140M Series D in September 2025 led by Fidelity Management & Research, bringing total funding to roughly $236M.
What could go wrong? The deal still requires regulatory clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, with closing expected in the second half of 2026. At $1.5B for a privately held company whose silicon capacitors are only just reaching production, the price carries integration risk if AI infrastructure spending cools.
