Aria Networks raises $125M in debut round to build AI-native networking for data centres
What's the deal? Palo Alto-based AI networking startup Aria Networks has raised $125 million in its first funding round. Investors include Sutter Hill Ventures, Atreides ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Valor Equity Partners, and Eclipse Ventures.
Founded in 2025 by Mansour KaramDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → — who previously founded intent-based networking company ApstraDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and served as group vice president of products for Juniper Networks' data centre division — and Subhachandra ChandraDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, former director of software engineering at Arista Networks, the company says it has already secured initial customer orders and begun deploying its technology.
Aria is building what it calls an "AI-native network" — networking infrastructure designed from the ground up for AI data centre workloads rather than adapted from traditional enterprise networking. A central concept is "token efficiency": how effectively a data centre converts computing resources into AI output.
The platform works with chips from both Nvidia and Google, allowing operators to mix, match, or upgrade hardware without rebuilding their entire network infrastructure.
Why now? AI data centre construction is accelerating globally, but the networking layer connecting thousands of GPUs has emerged as a critical bottleneck. Traditional networking was not designed for the dense interconnection patterns required by large AI workloads, leading to wasted capacity and higher costs. As AI models grow larger and inference demand surges, the efficiency of the network matters as much as the chips themselves.
What could go wrong? Aria is very early stage — founded in 2025, raising its first round — competing in a market where Nvidia has a formidable networking franchise through its Infiniband and NVLink ecosystems. Incumbents including Cisco, Arista, and Broadcom are also investing heavily in AI networking. Aria's hardware-agnostic positioning is a genuine differentiator but a harder sell to hyperscalers already deeply committed to specific chip vendors.
The signal: AI networking is becoming one of the most contested layers of the AI infrastructure stack. As GPU clusters scale from thousands to hundreds of thousands of chips, the network connecting them becomes as strategically important as the chips themselves.
Aria's $125 million debut raise reflects investor conviction that the networking layer is undersupplied with purpose-built solutions — and that the data centre buildout wave is still in its early innings.
