Nvidia invests $2B in AI cloud provider Nebius in latest infrastructure bet
What's the deal? Nvidia is investing $2 billion in NebiusDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an Amsterdam-based AI cloud provider, as part of a strategic partnership to design and build large-scale AI data centres. The deal will help Nebius deploy more than 5 gigawatts of Nvidia-powered computing infrastructure by 2030 — enough to power roughly 4 million homes.
Nebius shares jumped more than 10% on the news. The company reported 2025 revenues of $529.8 million, up 479% year on year, with net income of $101.7 million, reversing a net loss of $641.4 million in 2024.
Why now? Nvidia has been on a dealmaking spree, committing $2 billion to UK cloud startup Nscale and making a "significant" investment in AI lab Thinking Machines in the days prior.
Nebius also recently received approval to build a 1.2-gigawatt data centre campus in Independence, Missouri, making the timing of additional capital particularly useful.
What could go wrong? Nvidia's pattern of investing in its own customers has attracted growing scrutiny. Critics argue the arrangement is circular: Nvidia deploys its cash reserves into companies that then use the money to buy more Nvidia chips.
Nvidia has made a string of similar $2 billion bets on cloud providers that run on its chips, including CoreWeave and Nscale. If AI infrastructure demand slows or the bubble deflates, these interconnected bets could unwind quickly.
The signal: The race to build AI computing infrastructure is accelerating, driven by surging demand from a new generation of AI agents capable of complex, autonomous tasks. Nebius chief executive Arkady VolozhDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → put it bluntly: the entire industry could "double or triple its capacity and nobody would notice."
Nvidia's string of billion-dollar investments is less a sign of charity toward its partners and more a calculated move to ensure the supply of AI infrastructure — and therefore demand for its chips — keeps pace with what Jensen HuangDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → called "another inflection point" in AI development.
