Gambit Security raises $61M to help enterprises survive cyberattacks
What's the deal? Gambit Security has emerged from stealth with $61 million in seed and Series A funding to help enterprises recover from cyberattacks and system failures. The Tel Aviv-based startup raised it in under 12 months from Spark Capital, Kleiner Perkins, and Cyberstarts.
The company's AI-native platform maps an organisation's infrastructure and backup data to identify resilience gaps. According to Gambit, only around 5% of enterprise systems it analysed were truly resilient against ransomware — despite extensive backup coverage and security measures.
Why now? Alongside its launch, Gambit disclosed research into the Mexico government breach that began in late December 2025. An individual attacker directing AI tools — including AnthropicDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s Claude Code and OpenAI's GPT-4.1 — compromised nine government institutions and exposed 195 million identities within a month.
The attacker used over 1,000 prompts, with AI writing exploits, building tools, and automating data exfiltration. Gambit found the attacker bypassed safety guardrails by convincing the models their actions were authorised.
What could go wrong? Gambit enters a crowded cybersecurity market where "resilience" has become a buzzword. It will need to prove measurable outcomes, not just promises.
The breach raises uncomfortable questions about AI safety. If a solo attacker can direct commercial AI tools to operate like a nation-state team, the same technology enabling defence could also enable offence.
The signal: This funding reflects a shift in how enterprises approach cybersecurity — from trying to block every attack to investing in the ability to withstand and recover from them.
"Gambit is defining the standard for resilience and is the only solution in the market delivering verifiable resilience as an outcome, rather than backup as a tool," said Clay Fisher,Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → partner at Spark Capital.
The platform promises cost savings, typically reducing cloud storage costs by at least 10% through eliminating redundant backup data. Gambit plans to use the funding to accelerate product development and expand sales.
