Baseten Hits $5B Valuation in $300M Funding Round Backed by Nvidia

Baseten has raised $300 million in new funding at a $5 billion valuation. The round was co-led by Institutional Venture Partners and CapitalG, Google’s independent growth fund, with Nvidia also participating. Reports suggest Nvidia invested around $150 million in the round.

Founded in 2019, Baseten works in AI inference — the stage where trained machine learning models are deployed in production to generate predictions or responses from real-world data. As AI moves beyond training and experimentation into everyday products, inference has become a critical part of the stack. Baseten aims to simplify this process by providing infrastructure that allows teams to deploy and operate models without building complex systems from scratch.

The company’s platform combines deployment tooling, orchestration software, and optimized runtime environments to keep models running with low latency and high availability. It automatically manages resources across GPUs and cloud environments, and includes tools for monitoring performance, managing versions, and rolling out updates. Baseten supports open-source models and integrates with standard machine learning frameworks, giving developers flexibility in how they build AI-powered applications.

Nvidia’s involvement in the round highlights its growing focus on inference as the AI industry shifts toward running models in production at scale. It also reflects a broader trend of Nvidia investing in companies that rely on its chips. Prior to this raise, Baseten had raised $285 million from a group of well-known investors, positioning the company as a key player in the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
