Parloa Triples Valuation to $3B as Investment Heats Up in AI Customer Service
Parloa’s rise highlights how quickly capital is concentrating around a new generation of AI-powered customer service startups. The Berlin-based company has raised $350 million in Series D funding, valuing it at $3 billion — just eight months after a previous round that valued the business at $1 billion. The round was led by General Catalyst, as existing investors doubling down on the company.
Founded six years ago, Parloa builds AI agents designed to automate customer service tasks traditionally handled by human agents. These systems already answer calls for large enterprise clients such as Allianz, Booking.com, SAP, and Swiss Life, positioning the company squarely in the race to transform how customer support is delivered at scale.
That race has become increasingly crowded and expensive. Competitors include Sierra, co-founded by OpenAI chairman Bret TaylorDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and valued at $10 billion after a recent raise, as well as Decagon, which is reportedly seeking funding at a valuation above $4 billion. More established players like IntercomDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Kore.ai, and the UK-based PolyAI are also pushing into the same territory. Together, these companies are targeting a massive market: Gartner estimates there are around 17 million contact center agents worldwide.
Parloa’s CEO, Malte KosubDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, argues that the market is large enough to support multiple winners, but believes scale and capital will matter. While the company’s annual recurring revenue — reported at over $50 million — is broadly in line with peers, Kosub sees the large fundraise as a strategic advantage that could help Parloa pull ahead as competition narrows.
Looking ahead, Parloa plans to use its new capital to go beyond basic call automation. The company wants to build more advanced AI agents that can recognize customers across channels, retain context from past interactions, and personalize responses whether someone reaches out via phone, app, or website. If successful, that shift could move Parloa from a voice automation provider to a broader enterprise platform for AI-driven customer experience.
