LMArena Raises $150M at $1.7B Valuation to Scale AI Model Evaluation
LMArena has raised $150 million in a Series A funding round, valuing the AI evaluation startup at $1.7 billion, as demand grows for tools that assess how artificial intelligence systems perform in real-world conditions.
Founded by a group of AI researchers and engineers to address a growing gap in the AI ecosystem, LMArena focuses on evaluating and benchmarking large language models and other systems based on user experience rather than purely technical metrics.
Its platform is used by AI labs and enterprises to compare model behaviour, reliability and trade-offs across practical use cases.
The company has scaled rapidly over a short period. According to figures shared by the company, LMArena has grown revenue from zero to more than $30 million in annual recurring revenue within four months, alongside a sharp increase in usage, reaching over 35 million unique users.
The growth reflects rising interest from organisations seeking clearer signals on model performance as AI systems become more capable and more widely deployed.
The funding round was led by Felicis and UC InvestmentsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (the investment office of the University of CaliforniaDealroom has a profile for this one. As part of the financing, new board members will join the company, bringing experience from both the AI industry and long-term institutional investing.
LMArena plans to use the capital to expand its team, deepen its evaluation framework and launch additional products for research and enterprise customers.
The company positions its platform as a shared reference point for AI assessment at a time when questions around trust, safety and real-world performance are moving to the centre of adoption decisions.
