Cambium Raises $100 Million Series B to Scale Discovery and Production of Advanced Materials

Cambium, a US-based developer of advanced materials for high-performance sectors including defence and aerospace, has raised $100 million in a Series B funding round to support the discovery and scaling of new materials and expand its manufacturing capabilities.

Founded in 2019 and headquartered in El Segundo, California, Cambium uses computational material design, chemistry and manufacturing technologies to create materials intended to perform under extreme conditions.

Its platform blends bioengineering, materials science and advanced computation to build composites, polymers and other material systems tailored for defence, aerospace, industrial and other demanding applications.

The Series B funding follows Cambium’s prior rounds that supported the development of its core discovery and production technologies and helped the company strengthen its supply chain and partnerships.

The latest capital is expected to accelerate both research and production scale-up, enabling Cambium to bring new products through qualification and into broader use.

Investors in the Series B round include strategic backers interested in materials innovation and manufacturing agility. The infusion of capital will also support workforce growth and expansions in facilities capable of delivering advanced materials at scale.

Cambium’s technology aims to address performance gaps in areas such as hypersonics, laser protection, and extreme-temperature composites, where conventional solutions can fall short.

While the company has secured government contracts and partnerships that leverage its AI-assisted material design, the Series B round marks a significant step in firming its position as a provider of next-generation engineered materials.
