Cursor Acquires Graphite to Expand Its Developer Workflow Into Code Review
Cursor, the AI-powered code editor developed by Anysphere, has agreed to acquire Graphite, the code-review platform used by hundreds of thousands of engineers, bringing the two companies together.
Under the terms of the deal, Graphite will continue to operate as an independent product and team, with plans to explore tighter integration between Cursor’s development environment and Graphite’s review workflows.
Graphite’s co-founders said they chose to join forces with Cursor to accelerate their shared vision for the future of software development, combining code writing, collaboration and review into an end-to-end process.
They noted that many leading engineering organisations already use both tools and that Cursor’s resources would support Graphite’s product and technical ambitions.
Cursor’s acquisition of Graphite comes amid intensifying competition in the AI coding tools market. The startup behind Cursor, an AI-powered code editor built on Visual Studio Code, has grown rapidly, drawing interest from large investors and resisting acquisition approaches, even as its valuation and adoption have climbed sharply.
Industry observers say consolidation reflects broader pressures among AI-assisted developer tools, where firms seek to offer seamless workflows as rivals from established technology companies and specialist startups alike push into the same space.
