SanegeneBio Raises $110M to Advance RNAi Pipeline Toward Late-Stage Development
SanegeneBio, a clinical-stage biotechnology company specialising in RNA interference (RNAi), has raised more than $110 million in a Series B financing round intended to accelerate the development of its gene-silencing therapies.
Founded in 2021, SanegeneBio operates R&D centres in Boston, Shanghai and Suzhou. Backed by Tencent, the company is developing a pipeline of RNAi-based medicines aimed at silencing disease-driving genes in both hepatic and extra-hepatic tissues.
Its work centres on the LEAD (Ligand and Enhancer Assisted Delivery) platform, designed to improve delivery efficiency and broaden RNAi’s therapeutic reach beyond the liver — an area where many companies in the field are actively seeking advancement.
The platform also supports the development of longer-acting therapies that may require less frequent dosing, a key goal for RNAi drug makers.
SanegeneBio has advanced four investigational medicines into clinical trials across a range of therapeutic areas. The fresh capital will be used to move these candidates toward registrational studies and expand development into autoimmune, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, as well as obesity.
The company aims to progress additional programmes into the clinic, leveraging its delivery technology to reach tissues traditionally less accessible to RNAi.
With its Series B financing, SanegeneBio strengthens its position within a competitive and fast-evolving RNAi landscape, where improvements in delivery platforms are becoming a central differentiator.
The raise enables the company to continue scaling its global development efforts and to push its most advanced programmes toward later-stage evaluation.
