Generative Bionics Secures €70M to Accelerate Next-Gen Humanoid Robots
Italian robotics start-up Generative Bionics has secured a €70 million investment to accelerate the development of a new generation of intelligent humanoid robots. The funding represents one of the most significant injections of capital into Italy’s robotics sector and is intended to shift humanoid systems from research prototypes toward practical deployment in real industries.

With the new capital, the start-up plans to scale up industrial testing of its robots, develop a dedicated production facility and refine its “physical AI” systems for use in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and inspection. These environments require robots capable of navigating human-centered spaces, adapting to complex tasks and operating safely alongside people. The company expects its first pilot deployments to begin in 2026.
The investment signals growing confidence that humanoid robots are moving closer to functional, real-world applications. Unlike traditional industrial robots limited to controlled environments, the humanoids under development at Generative Bionics are designed to perform tasks in dynamic settings where flexibility and autonomy are essential.
By combining IIT’s long-standing scientific expertise with a commercial manufacturing roadmap, Generative Bionics aims to establish Italy as a competitive player in the global humanoid-robotics landscape. If successful, its systems could become early examples of robots intended not for research labs, but for workplaces where collaboration with humans is expected and needed.
