Quantum Systems Nears €200M Round Led by Balderton as Defence Tech Demand Rises

German drone maker Quantum Systems is close to securing a new fundraise of about €200m led by Balderton Capital, according to multiple sources, though the final amount has not yet been confirmed. The round, which includes secondary sales, is expected to close within days and would value the company at approximately €3bn.

The Munich-based company builds autonomous surveillance and interception drones, along with related battlefield software. Balderton is doubling down on the startup after leading its €160m raise in May 2025, which pushed Quantum Systems to unicorn status.

Co-founder and co-CEO Florian SeibelDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → previously said partnering with a UK investor reflected the company’s view that strategic alignment in Europe is becoming increasingly important.

The reported fundraise comes as interest in defence and air-security technology continues to expand. Quantum Systems recently unveiled an interception drone amid investor attention toward air-defence capability. It has also acquired at several companies in 2025 as part of a broader expansion effort. Seibel has indicated that an IPO could be possible as soon as 2026.
