Artios Pharma Raises $115M to Advance Next-Generation DNA Repair Cancer Drugs
Artios Pharma is building a pipeline of cancer medicines that target the DNA repair pathways tumors rely on to survive. By disrupting how cancer cells fix genetic damage, the company aims to create more effective treatments for some of the most aggressive and hard-to-treat tumors. Its work builds on the scientific foundation of PARP inhibitors while pursuing new, complementary mechanisms that could offer deeper and more durable responses.
The company’s lead drug candidate, alnodesertib , is an ATR inhibitor designed for cancers—such as pancreatic and colorectal tumors—that have underlying defects in DNA repair, particularly ATM-negative mutations. A second program, ART6043 , targets polymerase theta in an effort to prevent tumors from developing resistance to PARP blockers. With these two programs, Artios is pursuing a precision-medicine strategy: matching DNA repair vulnerabilities with targeted therapies that exploit them.
Artios is also expanding its approach into new modalities. The company is advancing antibody-drug conjugate research that leverages DNA repair mechanisms, with plans to designate a lead candidate in 2026. Across its pipeline, the core idea is consistent: weaken a tumor’s ability to repair itself and make it more susceptible to treatment.
