d-Matrix Raises $275M to Advance AI Inference Alongside Nvidia

AI hardware startup d-Matrix has reached a $2 billion valuation after raising $275 million from an international group of investors, including Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Singapore’s EDBI . This brings D-Matrix’s total funding to $450 million .

Founded in 2019 and based in Santa Clara, California , D-Matrix designs AI accelerator chips that enhance the performance of inference — the phase where AI models process real-world data after being trained. Its Corsair accelerator integrates directly into standard data center servers, offering high-speed memory to handle large AI workloads efficiently. The company also recently launched JetStream , a network card that complements its accelerator line.

Rather than competing directly with market leader Nvidia , d-Matrix positions itself as a complementary player in the AI ecosystem. “We co-exist — we’re not out there to kill Nvidia,” said Sasha Ostojic , venture partner at Playground Global , an early backer of the company. “We are best at some things, and Nvidia is best at others.”

The company plans to use the new capital to scale production , expand distribution , and strengthen customer support . CEO and co-founder Sid ShethDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → aims to leverage strategic partnerships with sovereign AI initiatives in Singapore and Qatar , and potentially deepen ties with Microsoft .

d-Matrix’s approach reflects a broader shift in the semiconductor industry: rather than building massive cloud infrastructures, it focuses on empowering existing hyperscalers with more efficient inference solutions — a harder but more sustainable strategy in the rapidly evolving AI hardware market.
