Deel Raises $300M to Cement Its Role as Global Payroll Infrastructure
Deel is sharpening its ambitions to become the central infrastructure layer for global employment after securing $300 million in new funding at a $17.3 billion valuation. The fresh capital led by Ribbit Capital underscores how central Deel has become in the increasingly complex global payroll and workforce technology space.
The company is already operating at significant scale. Its payroll infrastructure processes $22 billion annually, supporting 1.5 million workers in more than 150 countries. Deel runs legal entities across multiple jurisdictions and maintains in-house payroll teams in over 70 countries. Its platform is used by more than 37,000 businesses, giving it both the reach and the financial volume to act as a backbone for global hiring and payments.
Deel’s growth strategy is anchored in expanding its financial and operational infrastructure. The company plans to channel the new funding into accelerating AI development to further automate payroll and compliance, reducing friction for employers managing distributed teams. It’s also preparing for strategic acquisitions aimed at deepening its global coverage and integrating new financial services into its core platform — from real-time gross-to-net payroll calculation to automated tax and regulatory updates.
With this financing, Deel is positioning itself less as a software provider and more as a financial and operational infrastructure company for international employment. The company’s goal is to build the definitive platform for hiring, paying, and managing workers anywhere in the world — a model designed to capture growing payroll volumes and deliver scalable, recurring revenue in a global labor market that’s only becoming more interconnected.
