Maia Ventures Raises €55 Million to Back Europe’s Food and AgriTech Innovators

Maia Ventures, an Italian venture capital firm focused on food and agricultural technology, has raised a €55 million fund to support early-stage startups modernising the agrifood industry. The fund aims to bridge Italy’s world-class food heritage with emerging innovation in sustainability, digitalisation, and biotechnology.

With the new fund, Maia expects to invest in 20 to 25 startups, typically writing cheques between €500,000 and €1.5 million. The fund is classified under Article 8 of the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), highlighting its commitment to sustainable investment practices.

Beyond capital, Maia Ventures positions itself as a hands-on partner, helping startups navigate regulatory, industrial, and commercial challenges. Its model reflects a broader shift in European venture capital toward sector depth and closer ties between startups and legacy industries.
