Biotech Startup Arthrosi Advances Late-Stage Gout Drug With $153M Raise

Arthrosi Therapeutics has secured $153 million in Series E funding , to advance the late-stage development of pozdeutinurad (AR882) — a next-generation drug designed to redefine how gout and tophaceous gout are treated. The financing will support completion of two pivotal Phase 3 trials , REDUCE 1 and REDUCE 2, both now fully enrolled, with key results expected in mid-2026.

The company’s innovation focuses on improving the way uric acid is managed in patients with chronic gout, a condition that affects over 13 million people in the U.S. alone. Pozdeutinurad targets the URAT1 protein , a key regulator of uric acid reabsorption in the kidneys, to more effectively lower serum urate levels. By achieving sustained uric acid control, the therapy aims to reduce the frequency of painful flares and dissolve the hardened deposits known as tophi — outcomes that remain difficult to achieve with existing treatments.

Arthrosi’s approach could mark a step-change in the standard of care. While current drugs often struggle to maintain stable urate levels or prevent long-term joint damage, pozdeutinurad’s potency and selectivity have shown strong results in Phase 2 studies, including complete resolution of tophi in some patients.

The new funding provides the resources to bring this potential best-in-class therapy closer to market and expand access to patients worldwide. If successful, Arthrosi’s work could significantly improve the quality of life for millions living with gout — a disease often overlooked yet deeply disabling for those it affects.
