NanoPhoria raises record €83.5M Series A for nanotech heart failure therapy

Milan-based biotech NanoPhoria has secured a landmark €83.5M in a Series A investment round, the largest ever for an Italian biotech company, to advance its novel inhalable therapy for heart failure . The funding addresses the critical need for new treatment options for heart failure. The company’s proprietary "nano-in-micro" technology utilizes inorganic calcium phosphate nanoparticles as biomimetic carriers for biologics like peptides and RNAs. This approach enables a novel lung-to-heart delivery route, aiming to maximize therapeutic impact on previously inaccessible cellular targets within the heart while minimizing systemic side effects. The capital will be used to propel its lead candidate, NP-MP1, a first-in-class peptide designed for inhalation that improves cardiac contractility.

This significant investment underscores the growing confidence in platform technologies that solve complex drug delivery challenges. For NanoPhoria, it provides the capital to not only accelerate its lead HFrEF program but also to scale up GMP manufacturing and explore further applications of its delivery system for other cardiovascular and chronic diseases.

NanoPhoria's ability to attract a top-tier investor base signals a major validation of their biotechnology's scientific application. The Italian biotech ecosystem has reached a notable milestone.
