Workday Expands AI Capabilities with $1.1 Billion Sana Acquisition

Workday , the enterprise AI platform used by thousands of organizations worldwide, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Sana, an AI company specializing in workplace knowledge tools, for approximately $1.1 billion . The acquisition aims to combine Sana’s AI-powered search, agents, and learning solutions with Workday’s data and platform to create a more intelligent, personalized, and proactive work experience.

Founded in 2016, Sana has developed AI tools that help employees find information quickly, automate repetitive tasks, and create content such as dashboards, documents, and training courses. Its products, Sana Learn and Sana Agents, already serve over one million users across hundreds of companies.  According to GetLatka, Sana generated close to $52.1 million in revenue in 2024, underscoring its strong momentum ahead of the deal. As part of Workday, Sana will continue to develop these solutions while reaching a broader customer base.

The integration of Sana’s AI capabilities will allow Workday to offer employees personalized support and automation, helping them complete tasks more efficiently and improve learning and skill-building within organizations. Examples include generating tailored reports, automating performance reviews, and creating learning content at scale.

Workday expects the acquisition to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2026, subject to customary conditions. The deal highlights the growing trend of enterprise platforms using AI to enhance productivity and employee experiences across businesses of all sizes.
