Hyperdrives Raises €3 Million to Scale High-Performance EV Motor Tech

Munich-based startup Hyperdrives has raised €3 million in an oversubscribed seed round to accelerate the production of its next-generation electric motor technology. The round brought together a mix of European and international investors, giving the company the resources to expand manufacturing, validate its designs under industrial conditions, and prepare for market entry.

The company has developed a unique hollow-conductor cooling system that directs coolant inside the copper windings of electric motors. This approach allows for much higher current density compared to traditional designs, boosting power and efficiency while reducing both size and weight. Founded in 2021 by Michael Numberger, Benjamin Hengstler, and Robin Renz, Hyperdrives has already built and tested several generations of its technology and proven its commercial potential.

Looking ahead, Hyperdrives aims to bring motorsport-level performance to the mass market. Its technology has applications in electric vehicles, aviation, and marine transport, offering a scalable way to combine high performance with cost-effective manufacturing. With fresh backing from its investors, the company is positioning itself as a serious contender in the global race for advanced electric propulsion.
