FieldAI Raises $314M to Power the Next Generation of Robot “Brains”

FieldAI, a California startup focused on building artificial intelligence for robots, has raised $314million in new funding, lifting its valuation to around $2 billion . The financing, delivered in a single round , highlights investor appetite for AI systems that extend beyond text and images into the physical world.

Unlike traditional AI models adapted for robotics, FieldAI has created its own “physics-first” technology, known as Field Foundation Models (FFMs) . These models are designed specifically to help robots operate in unpredictable environments, making decisions without pre-mapped routes, GPS signals, or constant human oversight. By embedding an understanding of risk, uncertainty, and physical constraints, the system aims to give machines greater independence in complex settings.

FieldAI’s software is already in use at hundreds of sites worldwide , from construction zones and energy facilities to urban logistics hubs. Its models can run on a variety of robot forms—from humanoids to quadrupeds—by acting as a universal intelligence layer that adapts to the hardware, whether as a mounted module or integrated system.

The funding round attracted a roster of high-profile backers, including Bezos Expeditions, Khosla Ventures, Temasek, Intel Capital, and NVentures, the venture arm of NVIDIA. The company plans to use the capital to accelerate development in locomotion and manipulation, expand internationally, and increase its workforce significantly in the coming months.

As industries contend with labor shortages, rising safety demands, and efficiency pressures, FieldAI’s approach presents a scalable way to deploy autonomy in the real world. By building intelligence specifically for robots—rather than repurposing general-purpose AI models—the company is positioning itself to influence how machines think and act in industrial environments for years to come.
