Q.ANT Closes €62M Series A to Launch Photonic AI Processors at Scale
Q.ANT, a Stuttgart‑based deep‑tech startup spun off from TRUMPF in 2018, has raised a €62 million Series A , marking one of Europe’s largest funding rounds in photonic computing . The round was co-led by Cherry Ventures , UVC Partners , and imec.xpand , and included investors such as L‑Bank, Verve Ventures, Grazia Equity, EXF Alpha, LEA Partners, Onsight Ventures, and TRUMPF.
The company has commercialized a photonic co‑processor , built on Thin‑Film Lithium Niobate (TFLN) , designed to accelerate AI and high‑performance computing workloads. Real‑world testing suggests up to 30× greater energy efficiency , 50× performance gains , and ability to boost data center capacity by 100× , all with no need for active cooling.
Q.ANT’s technology is engineered to integrate seamlessly into existing data center infrastructures—offered as a plug‑in server compatible with standard programming languages and AI frameworks, simplifying adoption for enterprises.
Funds from the Series A will be used to scale production , advance the development of next‑generation photonic processors, expand the team, and support the company’s push into the U.S. market to meet growing deployment demand. The company has also strengthened its advisory board with semiconductor veterans like Hermann Hauser (ARM founder) and Hermann Eul (former Intel GM), infusing deep industry experience.
