Exein Secures €70M Series C to Scale Embedded Cybersecurity Globally

Exein, a Rome-based startup founded in 2018, has closed a €70 million Series C round led by Balderton, with participation from Supernova, Lakestar, 33N, United Ventures, and Partech. This brings its total funding to over US$106 million and values the company at more than €250 million , on the path toward €20 million in revenue for 2025 and projecting triple-digit growth in coming years.

The capital will fuel a global expansion push , focusing on the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea , while reinforcing Exein’s strong European presence.

Exein protects more than 1–1.5 billion devices globally , embedding AI-driven, real-time threat detection directly into IoT and edge hardware—what the firm terms a “digital immune system.” Its customers include major chipset and OEM/ODM players like MediaTek, Supermicro, Kontron, SECO, AAEON , and others. The business has reported 450% YoY growth .

Future roadmap includes building out security for on-device AI infrastructure and LLM runtimes , pursuing strategic M&A, and advancing geographic reach.

On the macro side, demand for embedded security is intensifying amid rising cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure, stricter regulations (e.g., NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act, US Cyber Trust Mark), and growing geopolitical tensions, positioning Exein near the center of a shifting cybersecurity paradigm
