Neon Secures US$25M Series E Extension to Fuel Credit and AI Push

Neon, one of Brazil’s leading digital banks, has secured $25 million in additional Series E funding , led by IFC (part of the World Bank Group) and DEG (a subsidiary of Germany’s KfW). This extension brings the total round to approximately $127 million , further strengthening Neon’s position in the digital banking and credit sector.

With around R$1 billion in cash , Neon is focusing on expanding its private payroll-deductible loan segment , which currently accounts for 10% of its R$6 billion credit portfolio. Through Brazil’s Crédito ao Trabalhador initiative, the company expects this segment to double within two years. Neon is also leveraging Pix-based credit products such as Pix Parcelado and Pix Garantido , targeting Brazil’s C and D income brackets.

The funding will also accelerate development of AI-driven personalization and credit assessment tools , boosting operational efficiency and monetization. Notably, Neon’s average revenue per active client (ARPAC) reached R$40 in Q1 2025 , up significantly from R$7 in 2021. The bank has now achieved two consecutive profitable quarters , including R$9.3 million in net income in Q1 2025, with gross revenue growing 63% year-over-year.

While macroeconomic conditions and elevated interest rates have led to rising delinquency risks, Neon is addressing these challenges through enhanced risk modeling and underwriting optimization.

This is expected to be Neon’s final private round before a potential IPO , which management suggests could occur within the next two years, depending on capital markets conditions.
