New Angel Fund Masia Aims to Boost Barcelona’s Startup Scene

Masia, Barcelona’s first angel fund backed by experienced tech founders and operators, has officially launched after several months operating in stealth. Co-founded by Carlos TrenchsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Pepe BornellDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the fund brings together deep expertise in venture capital and startup building, with a shared mission: to support globally minded founders building from Barcelona.

With €20 million under management, Masia was born out of Aldea Ventures’ fund-of-funds and is focused on the pre-seed and seed stages. The initiative is rooted in the belief that Barcelona is reaching a tipping point as a European tech hub — a city where local founders are reinvesting after successful exits, and where international entrepreneurs are choosing to build the future.

Masia aims to strengthen this momentum by connecting Barcelona-based founders with major investors across Europe, while also helping international founders integrate into the local ecosystem. It positions itself not just as a fund, but as a collective of operators and founders aligned around a common goal: enabling Barcelona’s most ambitious talent to thrive on a global scale.

In the months ahead, Masia will continue to grow its portfolio and community, helping to shape a stronger, more connected tech scene in Barcelona — and beyond.
