Adallom to Wiz: Building Giants in Cloud Security
In 2012, Assaf Rappaport, Ami Luttwak, and Roy Reznik, alumni of Israel's elite Unit 8200, co-founded Adallom, a cloud security startup. Their mission was to enhance the safety of enterprise SaaS applications by auditing user activities and providing real-time threat protection. The company's name, Adallom, is derived from "Ad Halom," meaning "last line of defense" in Hebrew. Over three funding rounds, Adallom secured $49.5 million from investors like Sequoia Capital and Index Ventures. In 2015, Microsoft acquired Adallom for approximately $320 million, integrating its technology into Microsoft's cloud security offerings.
After their tenure at Microsoft, the trio reunited in 2020 to launch Wiz, aiming to revolutionize cloud security by providing comprehensive visibility into cloud infrastructure risks. Wiz's platform rapidly gained traction, attracting major clients and investors. In March 2025, Google announced its intent to acquire Wiz for $32 billion, marking its largest acquisition to date.
This journey from Adallom to Wiz showcases the founders' consistent commitment to advancing cybersecurity solutions, culminating in one of the industry's most significant success stories.
