Peptone and IOR Announce Collaborative Research on Prostate Cancer

Peptone, a leader in translational biophysics and novel therapeutics for intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs), and The Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) have commenced a collaborative research agreement focusing on prostate cancer.

The collaboration aims to identify novel oncology targets using translational models, develop advanced treatments for prostate cancer, and leverage combined expertise for efficient technology transfer.

Dr. Kamil Tamiola, CEO of Peptone Ltd, and Professor Andrea Alimonti, MD, Incoming Director and Professor of Molecular Oncology at IOR, will lead the collaboration.

This collaboration combines Peptone's expertise in targeting disordered proteins with generative machine learning, structural insights, and patient data from Professor Alimonti's team.

Peptone is utilizing advanced experimental techniques, including hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS), supercomputing, and generative AI, to study and develop drugs for intrinsically disordered proteins  (IDPs), which lack a fixed structure and have been traditionally challenging to target.

Professor Alimonti emphasized the significant unmet clinical needs in prostate cancer. His team's findings show that advanced prostate cancer is regulated by several IDPs, which influence the tumor immune response. Targeting these proteins offers a promising strategy for treating this disease.
