Procare buys child care platform Playground to add AI tools

Try Dealroom → has acquired Playground, an all-in-one child care management platform, the Denver-based company announced on September 14, 2026. Terms were not disclosed. Playground is known for its design, customer support, and AI tools, including Camber, an AI assistant built for child care.
What each side brings: Procare is a child care management software provider used by more than 40,000 centers nationwide, and a business unit of Roper TechnologiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (Nasdaq: ROP). Playground offers integrated marketing and enrollment tools, an AI assistant, and financial management for billing, subsidies, and payroll.
What's the endgame? The deal expands Procare's product range and deepens its bet on AI. It follows the recent launch of RoomRunner, an AI-powered enrollment planning tool.
What changes for customers? Nothing immediately, according to Procare. "Whether customers currently use Procare's or Playground's software, nothing changes today," said Joe Gomes, president and chief executive officer of Procare Solutions.
Why now? Gomes framed the purchase as a response to a shifting market. "Our industry continues to evolve, and we must continue to invest in innovative solutions that support this mission," he said.
In their words: Playground co-founder and chief executive officer Daniel Andrews said joining Procare gives "more centers nationwide access to the tools we have worked so hard to create," backed by the acquirer's 30-year track record.
The signal: A three-decade incumbent buying a modern, AI-first rival points to consolidation in child care software, where legacy players are acquiring their way toward the AI capabilities customers increasingly expect.
